• Description : “N. D. Galland has created a delectable romantic comedy set in her home town of Martha’s Vineyard long after the summer crowds have departed. With a satirist’s eye and a pitch-perfect ear for the social nuances of small-town life, it’s Pride and Prejudice for the Bumble generation.” — Geraldine Brooks, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of March and The Secret Chord From the critically acclaimed author of Stepdog and The Fool’s Tale comes a romantic comedy that tells the story of one journalist secretly juggling two bylines for competing newspapers on a small island. One island, two newspapers, and the reporter who played them both Joanna Howes is a Martha’s Vineyard native who left the Island at eighteen and moved to New York City to become a writer. Now in her thirties, she reluctantly returns to care for her cranky, injured uncle. Needing income, she freelances for one island newspaper (the one Uncle Hank likes). But that doesn’t cover her bills, so she creates an alter ego to write for the rival paper (the one Uncle Hank doesn’t like). The Vineyard has a split personality – part elite summer resort, part working-class small town. The Island’s two papers –the Journal and the Newes – are famously at odds with each other and reflect the seasonal schism in their reporting. Everybody’s shoulder seems to have a chip on it. Joanna gets personally ensnared in a messy situation she’s assigned to write about for both papers: a wealthy seasonal resident sues the town for the right to use his private helicopter. When Johanna agrees to a cup of coffee with the witty, handsome stranger she meets at a zoning board meeting, she has no idea she’s made a date with Orion Smith, helicopter owner. Orion, meanwhile, doesn’t realize Joanna is the niece of his political nemesis, Henry Holmes. Joanna scrambles to keep her disparate identities separate from each other in the tiny off-season community, but everything she does just gets her into deeper trouble…and further complicates her budding romance with the exasperating charmer she’s doing her best not to fall for. A story about the half-truths we tell ourselves – and others – especially when our hearts are on the line. “The most exciting story of skullduggery, intrigue and drama on Martha’s Vineyard since the last time Alan Dershowitz was snubbed at a cocktail party.” — Peter Sagal, Host of NPR’s “Wait, Wait...Don’t Tell Me!” and author of The Incomplete Book of Running “[A] gem of a novel. . . . this rollicking rom-com unfolds on Martha’s Vineyard, which has spun its own share of fables. Quick, somebody call Hollywood. This one is ready for the big screen.” — Bob Drogin, author of Curveball: Spies, Lies and the Con Man Who Caused a War [...] by Publisher : 'William Morrow Paperbacks'

• Description : This is a book of insight. It shines light on areas that a person might not see and most definitely understand. The information inside has the potential to cause a life changing experience. It touches on many areas of topic which can cause self-examination. With self-examination, that alone causes evolution and the basic structure of evolution is growing, being better than yourself in the past. The interesting content inside of each topic pulls you into areas of understanding, areas of obvious suspicion that some might not be able to see, areas of understanding existence, and how to fix a corrupt situation just to name a few. The biggest thing about all this information is that it just might be the blue print, the road map, and the compass to a better world. We all need guidance but who will give it? The time is now to be lead into the land of milk and honey. The question will remain, do you want to go and will you do what it takes to get there which is travel. A better world can happen in 7 years but it can start tomorrow. [...] by Publisher : 'AuthorHouse'

• Description : Fiction often introduces us to possibilities that redirect how we live. The enjoyment of writing a novel of alternate possibilities for how doomsday predictions might play out stepped into an enormous real life challenge as fictional possibilities were put to the test in reality. The information carried in these scenarios of how survivors overcome themselves to access their original abilities is entertaining; yet for those ready to un-morph into the divinity of all of us, it is a manual for transformation. Ponder whether we are creatures of circumstance or creators of circumstance as you go on a journey of possibilities that might awaken something you didn’t know was asleep in you. • Description : Welcome to the proceedings of the 2005 IFIP International Conference on - bedded and Ubiquitous Computing (EUC 2005), which was held in Nagasaki, Japan, December 6–9, 2005. Embedded and ubiquitous computing is emerging rapidly as an exciting new paradigm to provide computing and communication services all the time, - erywhere. Its systems are now pervading every aspect of life to the point that they are hidden inside various appliances or can be worn unobtrusively as part of clothing and jewelry. This emergence is a natural outcome of research and technological advances in embedded systems, pervasive computing and c- munications, wireless networks, mobile computing, distributed computing and agent technologies, etc. Its tremendous impact on academics, industry, gove- ment, and daily life can be compared to that of electric motors over the past century, in fact it but promises to revolutionize life much more profoundly than elevators, electric motors or even personal computers. The EUC 2005 conference provided a forum for engineers and scientists in academia, industry, and government to address profound issues including te- nical challenges, safety, and social, legal, political, and economic issues, and to present and discuss their ideas, results, work in progress, and experience on all aspects of embedded and ubiquitous computing. • Description : More than the citizens of most countries, Americans are either religious or in jail--or both. But what does it mean when imprisonment and evangelization actually go hand in hand, or at least appear to? What do "faith-based" prison programs mean for the constitutional separation of church and state, particularly when prisoners who participate get special privileges? In Prison Religion, law and religion scholar Winnifred Fallers Sullivan takes up these and other important questions through a close examination of a 2005 lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a faith-based residential rehabilitation program in an Iowa state prison. Americans United for the Separation of Church and State v. Prison Fellowship Ministries, a trial in which Sullivan served as an expert witness, centered on the constitutionality of allowing religious organizations to operate programs in state-run facilities. Using the trial as a case study, Sullivan argues that separation of church and state is no longer possible. Religious authority has shifted from institutions to individuals, making it difficult to define religion, let alone disentangle it from the state. Prison Religion casts new light on church-state law, the debate over government-funded faith-based programs, and the predicament of prisoners who have precious little choice about what kind of rehabilitation they receive, if they are offered any at all.
