⊗ Author Profile

“KARIN SLAUGHTER was born in 1971 and grew up in a small town in southern Georgia, where she began to write as a child. She lives in Atlanta today and is dedicated to writing, nourished by the heavy atmosphere of the deep South. Rewarded several times and described as “new prodigy thriller”, Karin Slaughter has been able to take advantage of the legacy of the big names of the thriller. In its angelic air, the new voice of the contemporary American thriller hides indeed a sharp mind, able to describe with unprecedented crudity murders, sadism, autopsies, while auscultating the psychological motivations of complex characters, never Manichean, always endearing. All the ingredients of the suspense are present to lead us little by little to the climax of a horror all the more disturbing as it is intrinsically human.

In the tradition of Patricia Cornwell or Thomas Harris, Karin Slaughter (born in 1971) perpetuates the criminal literature, is a bestseller translated in fifteen countries. She lives in Atlanta today, where she devotes herself to writing. Described as a “new prodigy of the thriller”, it is a great success with critics, its colleagues and the public, and his first novel, Dead Blind (2003), is a best-seller translated into fifteen countries. She sets the stage for a plot she will develop step by step in Razorblade (2004), À Froid (2005), and more recently Indélébile, and in which we find her favorite characters, the couple Jeffrey Tolliver – police chief – Sara Linton – medical examiner. The private life of her heroes is just as important as their role in history, and Karin Slaughter does not hesitate to give details that are sometimes very precise to bring the reader into their deepest intimacy. We also find in her novels the heavy atmosphere of the deep South, from which she is native – she has always lived in Georgia. Murder, sadism, incomprehension, suspense: all the ingredients are present to lead us methodically to the paroxysm of horror, all the more unbearable as it is intrinsically human.”
